Opened in October 2008 as an open atelier and gallery managed by the artist, Masaya Shirahama, in a renovated former sports shop located in the shopping street at Fukagawa Shiryokan-dori in Fukagawa, Tokyo. It was an art laboratory as well as a production atelier and an art shop. It had held enthusiastic and experimental project exhibitions, such as a group exhibition on the theme of art furniture or picture frames, as well as, amongst others, solo exhibitions by a wide range of artists. The appearance of the exhibition space changed due to changes in the colors on the walls with each exhibition, and these variations succeeded in attracting the attention of the people visiting the shopping street. Along with exhibitions, it also held an open production, talk shows, and workshops, as well as other kinds of events. However, the space closed in December 2010. They will continue their activities using various places and formats, such as Art Labo Fukagawa Ippuku, on their website, as well as overseas. Among the past projects that were held are: “Arty Crafty”, “Eco Eco Project #1”, “Art Furniture Exhibition”, and many others. Address: 3-9-6 Miyoshi, Koto-ku, Tokyo Art Labo Fukagawa Ippuku |
