A vertically long acrylic case. A piece of beef was hanging down from the upper side. Vivid red paphiopedilum was pinned onto the beef that was hanging in the air and gradually changing its color to dark red. It reminded us of an insect specimen, especially that of a butterfly, and held our eyes. Life ends with the cutting of flesh or a flower. However, what we must not miss is that the meat is bleeding slightly, the drops falling down in long intervals and pooling at the bottom of the case. That might have been an unexpected coincidence, but the continuously dripping blood was creating a shape like a corolla on the floor. Meat and Flowers - their way of living is totally different although they are both living beings. It seemed to me the dead flower was transformed and came back to life by means of the dead meat. Yet, I cannot think only of this sweet reincarnation. We have an example of comparing flowers with other things in "Fish & Flower" (August 2007) in which he used living fish, and the impression is completely opposite to "Meat and Flower" in which he used the meat of a dead cow. The smell of rotting meat is much more awful than that of rotting flowers/plants so the meat had to be replaced every couple of days.
