”Japanese Letters (These Seven Letters)" Jiro Takamatsu produced works, from the end of the ’60s to the first part of ’70s, where he questioned the relationship and absence between an object and its meaning. There is a series of his works at the beginning of ’70s in which Takamatsu used letters and numbers to exclude image and materiality from medium and meant to have a presence of absent nature (equal to reality) on the paper. Examples from this series, “Japanese Letters (These Seven Letters) ” and “English Words (These Three Words) “, as well as his mainly conceptual works will be presented in the exhibition.
