Since the beginning of his art career in 2001, Takashi Kato has consistently pursued a unique method of making photographs or moving images of the contact between his body and various objects. His work has a stoic and self-contained form that does not seem to allow any interpretation or meaning thought by others to occur, and therefore it evokes the beauty of his complete world.
Kato first participated in the Nakanojo Biennale in 2013. Since then he has participated many times and this is his fifth time. This exhibition at GalleyK looks back at Kato’s work of each Biennale, and how the relationship between a single artist and a single place -Nakanojo- has been reflected in his work.
