In our daily lives we experience ourselves in a flow of time and expansion of space hearing various sounds and seeing different things at the same time, and we benefit this as a natural place. Yet those two forms of beauty -listening to music and looking at art- are experienced as two different dimensions of experience, sound in the flowing time and objects existing in space.
Yuga Soma-Ueno is an artist who has a keen sensitivity in both areas. He treats these two elements of ‘sound=time’ and ‘objects=space’ as equals but creates a structure in which they interfere and confront each other. This makes us re-experience the connection between time and space as something that can be unstable in many ways, and also he invites us to become aware of the fluctuations of our own existence in this world.
