Urasaki Mikio Exhibition ”Window, Sky, Water surface”
Events
Published: March 27 2021

One of exhibition works. Oil and acrylic on canvas

What Urasaki paints are of the familiar scenes from his own daily life. However, his realistic depictions by his cold touch together with layered decalcomania that seems to repel the gaze that is drawn to it, give the objects in his paintings a mysterious presence, and it causes wavers in our usual everyday senses.
The theme Urasaki consistently pursues in his work is that things we see in front of us are reconstructed by our brains through our ‘perception’, and therefore they are not a real ‘presence’ in itself. He believes that to give us a glimpse, even for a very short moment, of the ‘existence’ of things before they become just boring facts in our daily lives by our ‘perception’ is the true nature of the aesthetic impression of painting.
