These two artists, Taiga Katoh and Hiroaki Fukuda, may have antithetical views towards the present society. Yet they accept the society once again and then send a message through art as a tool. They expand the idea ‘social sculpture’by Joseph Beuys –sculpture as something which evolves and renews instead of going backwards- and try to be the factors named ‘individuals’ that expand the concept of sculpture. Fukuda believes that today our central concept is ‘information’ and the concepts before this information-oriented society need to choose to be innovated or extinguished. In the realm of art, what people thought as normal is not acceptable anymore. Fukuda tries to find new possibilities as breaking the scheme that is once stiffened. Katoh focuses on the nature of ‘praying’. He says that after ‘praying’, only what is within that person has an impact not actually affecting the outer world. He then makes art works as an object of ‘praying’. He then tries to attach the act of ‘praying’ to the act of looking at this
