For exhibition works

Jo Yeon-Seung is a painter whose work is based in the town called Changwon, and she works in and outside of Korea. This is her third time exhibition in Tokyo.
Recently Jo works on compositions created by combining countless amounts of singular elements. Placing infinite numbers of rectangular-shaped colour lumps all over and on top of each other makes the paintings expand to the edge of the screens as their rough surface creates lights and shadows. Infinite changes born out of singular elements. There we can see her inner ideas about origins of the universe and meanings of human existence.
An explosion of a singular point where there were no time, space or things, the universe was born as an expansion and it is still expanding and extending at the same time. All things in this universe, stars and us are one and connected as we were all born out of the
same point.

‘The points on the canvas are the traces of where we have walked and of the moments of our lives, and they are the expression of our daily lives. Everyday I am sinking in my thoughts creating those points wondering about the mysterious time and infinite spatiality. I create my work of the world I perceive through making those points.’
