If the ‘beauty’ did not exist in this world that is dominated by death, hatred, putrefaction, poverty and power, then we human beings must have been doomed ages ago. Hosoya expresses himself as such in this exhibition. He holds up this idea as his principle of his own creative activity. In his drawings we see straight lines, curved lines and myriads of dots. Yet these things give us neither spacial or formative grasps nor the laws of perspective. Mysterious indications are far beyond the human conscious and they are more like the instant traces of infinitely layering multidimensional cosmos passing by the two-dimensional world of the flat surface of the paper. So to speak, it is like continuing the work to observe what cannot be observed. This pure act that seems not to give any answers or produce anything does actually show the way to the ‘beauty’ the highest value of the humanity.
