Using colored pencil Akiyama Mashito draws very large panoramic views with various themes. Formerly he expressed the beautiful nature of his birthplace, or the homage to masters of Japanese traditional painting, then became to show his criticism for contemporary human society, especially the light and darkness of the American history. Most Japanese people in post war era have come under a great influence of American popular culture, and so is Akiyama, especially as a passionate blues music lover. In recent show he expresses in his drawings the deep respect for great successors of Amarican roots music, and he himself plays a guitar. His improvised blues will fill the air in the gallery with fantastic resonance of colors and sounds. http://galleryk.la.coocan.jp/Information Provided by: Gallery K Period: October 3,2016 (Mon) 〜 October 8,2016 (Sat) |
