The alphabets f and r used in the title of this exhibition “f/f-f/r” respectively stand for forward and reverse. In this exhibition we show the artworks that have forward-thinking aspects and those have reversing aspects in the same space, and try to highlight their features. All artists basically share a view “the artworks get close to completion as the artist moves his/her hands.” However, some works get a more and more decadent atmosphere and others seem to get constructive. Yusuke Suga, with his wooden sculptures, expresses aggressiveness that is reminiscent of intentional destruction, and Sachiko Kawakami, on the other hand, creates original scene through drawing fine triangles. We defined Suga as the artist who stands on the edge of “reverse” and Kawakami “forward,” and picked up eight artists who use various media, many of whom reflect reversing taste. Gap between each artwork will be showed in a solid way at the exhibition. We hope you enjoy the vivid uniqueness hidden behind their view.
