Dodo Schielein&Torsten P Bruch We would like to announce the group show of German and Japanese artists's artworks together in one space in use of the keywords of two language synonym "Ach so !?". In this exchange show, both common points and points of difference might be found by a context of contemporary art. We hope you will enjoy this show. One of the most curious similarities of the Japanese and German language is it's very often simultaneously uttered sound of astonishment and surprise: "Ach so!" says the German when he surprisingly gains new knowledge, "Ach so!" says the Japanese if he is surprised about something he didn't know before. Both cultures seem to have the same spontaneous expression for something that is new and astonishing. This title "Ach,so!?=あっ、そう!?" was chosen in the exhibition featuring 8 members of artist house FRISE at the MAKII MASARU FINE ARTS in 2008. And we'd like to choose these words again as the title of the exhibition held in Tokyo this year, 2011. Since Contemporary art is aiming at this feeling of experiencing something new or seeing something in a surprising new way of expression, - we are hoping that the result will lead to many "Ach so's" among our Japanese and may-be German visitors of the exhibition.
