We are pleased to announce the exhibit of Hideo Tobita 『Le déclic』 will be held at Emon Photo Gallery this November.
Hideo Tobita has diligently honed his own method of artistry over the past twenty years. Piece by piece he has come to construct a world in miniature by hand, of which he takes Polaroid photographs in large format. This latest exhibition, named from the French word for the “click” of the shutter, is Tobita’s oeuvre, including close to the entire collection of his frozen scenes of imagination. Tobita pieces together his miniatures with a steady determination, at last consigning them to a single Polaroid. And then he destroys them. Facing his art with a stoicism that belies the ultimate transience of his work, he is creator of a closed universe, in which he travels; loves. Gazing into these small Polaroids, we feel transported further even than the world of Tobita’s making, to a place somehow nostalgic, where we’re perhaps met with our own distant memories.
For this exhibition we welcome Haruko Ishii (KANESEI), a frame artist devoted to the authentic classical European style of frame making. Ishii has crafted an original one-of-a-kind frame for each of the photos, which are single editions. We welcome you to enjoy these truly one-off pieces of art that exist nowhere else on Earth.
EMON Photo Gallery looks forward to receiving directly any questions you may have regarding reproduction or publication of information on this exhibition.

[作家コメント] 『Le déclic』
All of a sudden, I hear a click as though of something coming undone. Simultaneously, the subject tears itself out of the object, taking with it part of its color and weight. Something in the world has burst out..... Gille Deleuze『Atom and Double』 A change in direction, a disengaging; of what? From what? Then I click the shutter.
