Opened in May of 1982 in Kyobashi, Tokyo, LIXIL GALLERY holds a monthly exhibition of contemporary artists in a wide range of genres including painting, sculpture and media art. Since 2000, they have also held a public exhibition "10 days selection" in order to discover and introduce further new work such as that of Kentaro Taki, Yasuyoshi Botan, Chika Kato, Taisuke Makihara, and Yuki Tawada.
LIXIL GALLERY also publishes "INAX ARTNEWS" and holds artist talks alongside the exhibition. These provide an opportunity to understand more about the artists and the works. Recently, they have also been devoted to introducing artists based in other areas of Kanto including the Tohoku and Kansai areas, which gives us a chance to experience the first solo exhibitions of emerging artists. We can gain an overview of the history of domestic and international contemporary art from LIXIL GALLERY's exhibition archives, which cover the period from the 80s to the present.
